INCARCERATION NATION
A country built upon incarceration
And built upon cultural decimation
A nation built upon misery and violence
A country built on misery and genocide
Not much has changed 228 years later
We are still a country, a nation of incarceration
We are still a country, a nation of cultural genocide
When will it change?
When will we grow?
When will we learn?
There are so many different ways
With dealing with the wrongs
There are so many ways
And better ways
Of righting the wrongs
When will we care?
WHEN will we take care?
When will we nurture
WHEN will be start to nurture?
WHEN will we learn
WHEN will we learn the old ways of our First Nation
The old ways are still the today ways of our First Nation
It’s time to end being a nation of incarceration
To end the title of incarceration nation
It’s time to end genocide, the cultural genocide
That’s with us every day
It’s time to embrace
It’s a time to learn
It’s a time to learn new ways
With dealing with those who have wronged
And it’s time to right the wrongs
